Family Therapy

Family Therapy is a form of psychotherapy in which family members meet together in order to change relationships and communication patterns so as to improve the emotional climate, increase support, and reduce conflict and stress. Family therapy is used for a very wide range of problems including primary family dysfunction, support for treatment of adolescents, and treatment of many psychiatric disorders such as depression and schizophrenia. When a family member is coping with such an illness, family therapy often incorporates a psychoeducational component regarding the illness.
